How to Apply for the AFSA National High School Essay Contest
If you want to apply for the AFSA National High School Essay Contest, you must write an essay that responds to the prompt for the year. This changes from year to year, so you will have to check with AFSA.org to see what the essay will be when you apply. Essays must be typed, double-spaced, and in 12-point Times New Roman or an equivalent font with a one-inch margin on all sides of the page. You must submit four copies of your essay in your application, along with a simple form with your name, phone number, home address, an e-mail address, as well as the name and address of your school and/or sponsor. Your teacher has to sign the application form before it can be reviewed.
The review board meets shortly after the application deadline to go over the entries and determine a winner. You will be contacted by letter after that if you have been selected as a winner.
